What should foundries pay attention to during manufacturing?

When casting bed-type castings, large castings of this type must undergo heat treatment to enhance their service performance and improve the intrinsic quality of the cast iron. Metal heat treatment is one of the essential processes in mechanical manufacturing; unlike other machining processes, it typically does not alter the workpiece’s shape or its overall chemical composition. Instead, it modifies the microstructure within the workpiece or changes the chemical composition of its surface, thereby imparting or enhancing the workpiece’s service performance.
Foundries should pay attention to the following techniques and methods during the production process:
1. Ensure that the alumina particle size is not too fine; sand-like alumina is preferred. During feeding, minimize dust generation by sealing the anode with covering material, and keep windows closed during processing.
2. When replacing the anode, all material on the old anode must be completely removed, and any alumina remaining on the spent anode must be thoroughly cleaned off.
3. Properly control the sediment to prevent excessive buildup and hardening.
High production efficiency in foundry operations is primarily reflected in the following four aspects:
1. The scope of knowledge involved is broad, encompassing alloys, casting processes, molding materials, casting equipment, and inspection of the production process, among other areas.
2. The causes of casting defects are diverse: a single defect can result from multiple factors, while a single factor can give rise to several different defects.
3. The constraints imposed by technical measures: for example, adopting a particular measure to prevent one type of defect may inadvertently lead to the occurrence of another.
